ROOTED IN
WYOMING HISTORY
White Pine Resort has been part of Wyoming's outdoor heritage for more than 85 years. In the fall of 1939, local enthusiasts installed one of Wyoming's first cable tows—a half-inch cable run around two drums, powered by a gas-fired Chevy motor. Originally named Surveyor Park Ski Area, the resort officially opened to skiers in January 1940, becoming Wyoming's second-oldest ski area.
For two decades, that modest cable tow served the growing skiing community in Pinedale and throughout the Wind River Mountains. Then in 1961, the United States Forest Service issued a 20-year special use permit covering 76 acres on Fortification Mountain—a valued partnership that continues today. To expand operations in the 1960s, local investors funded the purchase of a chairlift from France. When installed, the White Pine lift became the longest in Wyoming at the time, starting at 8,500 feet and climbing an additional 1,000 vertical feet to the summit near Fortification Mountain.
Generations of Wyoming families have learned to ski here, built winter traditions here, and discovered what makes small, independent ski areas special. Today, we remain a small, locally operated resort under special use permit from the USDA Forest Service, Bridger-Teton National Forest. From the early days when the Civilian Conservation Corps helped clear this terrain, to our continued operation on public lands today, White Pine has always been about making mountain recreation accessible and affordable for families who want to experience the outdoors.

THE WHITE PINE
DIFFERENCE
Uncrowded Runs, Genuine Hospitality
Located just 10 miles from historic Pinedale in the Bridger-Teton National Forest, White Pine Resort offers 27 runs across 363 skiable acres. Our terrain serves beginners building confidence and intermediate skiers exploring varied runs—all with minimal lift lines and maximum mountain time.
Two lifts service groomed downhill runs and our terrain park, while a third tow lift operates our popular tubing hill. Adjacent to the resort, 35 kilometers of free Nordic ski trails offer additional winter recreation for all skill levels.
Views That Define Wyoming
At 9,600 feet, Fortification Mountain provides panoramic views of the Continental Divide, Wind River Range, Fremont Lake, and the Wyoming Mountain Range. It's the kind of scenery that reminds you why you came to Wyoming in the first place.
Year-Round Mountain Access
Unlike seasonal ski areas, White Pine operates year-round. When snow melts, our slopes and cross-country trails transform into hiking and mountain biking routes through wildflower meadows. Our RV park and campground becomes your base camp for exploring the Bridger-Teton National Forest.
We're in the process of expanding our summer offerings—because Wyoming adventure doesn't end in April.

BUILT FOR LEARNING,
DESIGNED FOR EVERYONE
White Pine's manageable scale creates the ideal learning environment. Our ski school offers lessons for all ages and abilities, with patient instructors who genuinely enjoy helping beginners find their confidence. Families appreciate terrain that keeps everyone together, while couples value uncrowded runs that maximize slope time.
AUTHENTIC WYOMING, ACCESSIBLE ADVENTURE
We're not trying to compete with large resorts. We're creating something different: a place where outdoor recreation feels welcoming rather than intimidating, where quality experiences don't require premium budgets, and where western hospitality means something real.
This is Wyoming skiing the way it's meant to be—authentic, accessible, and built on community.
